The Melbourne Declaration (PDF 935KB) on Educational Goals for Young Australians outlines how "Globalisation and technological change are placing greater demands on education and skill development in Australia and the nature of jobs available to young Australians is changing faster than ever."
The need for students to be "creative and productive users of technology, especially ICT, as a foundation for success in all learning areas ..." together with the key skills related to logical thinking, creativity, innovation, resourceful, independent and collaborative are the 21st century skills that will allow students to reach their potential.
At Revesby South Public School we foster students development of the essential skills for twenty-first century learning – in literacy, numeracy, information and communication technology (ICT), thinking, creativity, teamwork and communication.
Some ways we do this is through the use of digital tools and 21st century technology, project and problem based learning, Genius Hour and allowing students to be actively involved in their learning.
The teachers of at Revesby South are highly skilled in the use of digitals tools and use these to enhance and enrich student's learning. We believe by effectively using 21st century tools we can create a vibrant new curriculum that surpasses the traditional confines of a classroom and stimulates both teacher and student alike.
